How Lisa Lost 45lbs at DSC!
After college, I gained a lot of weight and seemed to be constantly battling to get the extra pounds off since.
Over the years, I would workout sporadically, but nothing ever stuck.
I tried a gym for women but got bored pretty quickly and just felt that I was not getting enough bang for my buck.
I also tried a big box gym but felt invisible there and really found it difficult to motivate myself.
I also tried several online work out programs but could never stay motivated to continue.
Then, DSC popped up on my Facebook feed and I was intrigued. After seeing the posts and checking out the DSC website several times, I decided to take the leap in January 2019.
I knew that something needed to change if I was going to try to get back in shape and lose weight. I was really happy to see that they had classes specifically for women since I was a little anxious about my abilities.
I needn’t have worried about anything. From the second I set foot in DSC, I felt at ease!
Sara (who works the front desk) welcomed me instantly and introduced me to the coaches, who were all amazing!
I did not feel invisible and Coach Renee stayed with me and the other new women through the first workout to make sure we were doing ok. I have knee issues and the coaches helped me modify some of the exercises so I would not hurt myself.
DSC is unlike any gym I have ever belonged to!
I am constantly amazed that all the coaches know everyone’s name! Each one is so encouraging and helps make sure we are doing all the exercises correctly.
The workouts are tough but very do-able. I love that they vary so I certainly do not get bored. Even after DSC re-opened after COVID lockdown, I still feel like I get a great workout in the shorter time.
DSC really does feel like a family. In addition to the support of all the coaches, the other members are so supportive and friendly.
I really never feel like I am being judged by anyone. Never once have I felt self-conscious.
Although I was losing weight with the work outs alone, the factor that really got things going was joining the DSC Nutrition Program.
I felt like I was pretty knowledgeable about nutrition and eating well but having the guidance of the nutrition coaches made all the difference in the world. I learned that I was not eating enough (who would have thought!) and the balance of what I was eating was off.
Learning how to track the foods I was eating, what to eat before and after workouts, and making sure I stayed well hydrated got things rolling and has become a way of life for me now. I really feel like this is something I can sustain where before all the “diets” never really worked.
Since joining DSC, I have lost 45 pounds!
I have more to go to get to my goal and, perhaps for the first time in my life, I really feel like I can get there!
More importantly though, I feel GREAT!
I have a lot more energy and strength than I have had in long time.
I am wearing clothes that have not fit in years and have cleared at least half of my clothes out of my closet because they are too loose on me. It is a great feeling!
It would not be an overstatement to say that joining DSC has been life changing for me!
I have never really looked forward to working out and now I do every day. If I don’t go to the gym, I do one of the online workouts at home.
I am not sure if I can put my finger on exactly what keeps me coming back and looking forward to coming back each time but it certainly has a lot to do with the positive feeling that Matt and all the coaches bring to each and every work out, the friendship and support of other members and the great feeling of accomplishment I have after working hard.
I cannot say enough about this place.
For anyone thinking about joining DSC, I would say not to waste any more time and just come in.
You will not be sorry. It is worth every penny, if not more!
